Terms & Conditions
Last updated: June 2025 · Effective immediately
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of AMI — the personal AI companion app
available on iOS and Android ("AMI", "the app", "the service").
By downloading, installing, or using AMI, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree, do not use AMI.
1. What AMI is
AMI is a personal productivity, reflection, and emotional support companion powered by artificial intelligence.
It helps you journal, plan, organise your schedule, track projects, and have supportive conversations.
Important: AMI is not a licensed medical, psychiatric, psychological, or therapeutic service.
AMI is not a substitute for professional mental health care, crisis intervention, or emergency services.
AI-generated responses may occasionally be inaccurate, inappropriate, or incomplete.
You should exercise your own judgment when relying on any AI-generated content.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, thoughts of self-harm, or any other crisis,
please contact your local emergency services or a licensed mental health professional immediately.

2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 13 years old to use AMI (16 in the European Union).
- If you are under 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's permission.
- By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate.
3. Your account
- Creating an account is optional. AMI works fully without one — data stays on your device.
- If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your password secure.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- Notify us immediately at support@heyami.app if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to use AMI to:
- Violate any applicable law or regulation.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the source code of AMI.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or other users' data.
- Use AMI to generate, distribute, or store illegal content.
- Harass, abuse, or harm other people.
- Use automated tools (bots, scrapers) to access AMI without our written permission.
- Misrepresent AMI's AI responses as coming from a human professional.
- Use AMI as the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, or other professional decisions.
5. Your content
- You own everything you write in AMI — your diary entries, notes, plans, and conversations.
- By using AMI, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you.
- We do not claim ownership of your content. We do not use your content to train AI models.
- You are responsible for the content you input. Do not enter content that is illegal, harmful, or that violates the rights of others.
- You can export all your content at any time via Settings → Export My Data.
6. AI-generated content
- AMI's responses are generated by artificial intelligence (Anthropic Claude API) and may not always be accurate, complete, or appropriate.
- AI responses are for informational and supportive purposes only. They are not professional advice.
- We are not liable for decisions you make based on AI-generated content.
- AMI may occasionally misunderstand your input or generate responses that feel off. This is a known limitation of current AI technology.
7. Data and privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains in full how we collect, use, and protect your data.
It is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
By using AMI, you agree to our Privacy Policy.
8. Availability and changes
- We aim to keep AMI available at all times but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service.
- We may update, modify, or discontinue features of AMI at any time.
- We will give reasonable notice of significant changes where possible.
- We are not liable for any loss caused by service interruptions or changes.
9. Intellectual property
- AMI, its name, logo, design, code, and all associated content (excluding your personal data) are owned by us or our licensors.
- Nothing in these Terms grants you any right to use our name, logo, or branding without our written permission.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- AMI is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of AMI.
- Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of AMI will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim (or £50 / $50 if you have not paid us anything).
- Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.
11. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses
(including legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or your use of AMI.
12. Termination
- You may stop using AMI at any time and delete your account via Settings → Delete Account.
- We may terminate or suspend your access to AMI at any time for violation of these Terms, with or without notice.
- On termination, your right to use AMI ends. Sections 5, 9, 10, 11, and 14 survive termination.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via
in-app notification or email at least 14 days before they take effect.
Continued use of AMI after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales,
unless you are a consumer in a jurisdiction with mandatory local consumer protection laws, in which case those laws apply.
